Terms & Conditions
The basis on which we quote for and carry out roofing work. Your written quote takes precedence where it differs from anything below.
1. About us
These terms apply to work carried out by Harding & Co. Roofing Specialists, 48 Buckfast Road, Morden, Surrey, SM4 5NB. Contact: 07808 839833 / info@hardingco.co.uk.
2. Surveys and quotes
Surveys and quotes are free for existing homeowners. A pre-purchase survey on a property you are buying is charged at £150; that £150 is deducted from your quote if you proceed with the work after purchase. Quotes are issued in writing and set out the specification and the payment schedule.
3. Emergency call-outs
Emergency attendance carries a £150 call-out fee. The cost of the repair itself depends on the work required and is confirmed to you before we proceed. Emergency visits are usually about making the roof safe and stopping water ingress; permanent repairs are quoted separately.
4. Payments
Payments are staged and set out in writing before work begins. On a new pitched roof, for example, a 30% deposit falls due once the scaffolding is up, with the balance staged through the job. You will never be asked to hand over a large sum before work has started.
5. Guarantees
New pitched roof installations carry a 25-year guarantee. Flat roof installations carry a 15-year guarantee, and flat roofing systems additionally come with a manufacturer-backed guarantee on the product, which is passed on to you. Guarantees cover our workmanship and the installed system, and do not cover damage caused by third-party works, alterations, neglect, or events outside our control.
6. Insurance
We hold £1,000,000 public liability cover. Details are provided with every quote and are available on request.
7. Spray foam removals
No certificate is issued for the removal of spray foam insulation. Every removal we have carried out has been signed off by building control and surveyors without issue, but we cannot guarantee the decision of a third-party lender, surveyor or insurer.
8. Access, scaffolding and site
You agree to provide safe access to the property and, where relevant, to obtain any permissions needed for scaffolding, skips or access over neighbouring land. Where hidden defects are found once a roof is opened up, we will inform you and agree any additional cost with you before continuing.
9. Variations and cancellation
Any change to the agreed specification will be confirmed with you before it is carried out. If you cancel after materials have been ordered or scaffolding erected, those costs remain payable.
10. Website content
Prices, timescales and descriptions on this website are indicative and do not form a contract. Your written quote is the contractual document.
