Local Coverage
Hampshire runs south-west of us along the A3 and M3, and we cover the county from Farnborough, Aldershot and Basingstoke in the north, through Winchester and the downland villages, down to Southampton, Eastleigh, Fareham and Portsmouth on the Solent.
The county's housing stock is unusually broad. Portsmouth and Southampton carry dense Victorian and Edwardian terraces alongside enormous post-war reconstruction. Basingstoke and Andover are dominated by 1960s–90s estate housing with concrete interlocking tiles. Winchester and the villages hold older clay-tiled, thatch-adjacent and flint-and-brick property with steep pitches and complex geometry.
We are a nine-strong family firm with over 60 years of combined experience, and we approach every Hampshire job the same way: get on the roof, find the actual failure, explain it in plain terms and quote it in writing with the guarantee attached.

Why Us
A family firm with published pricing on what can be published, real written guarantees, and roofers who have been trained rather than recruited.
Mark Harding started at thirteen with his grandad and now runs a team of nine with more than 60 years of combined experience.
On Solent-side and downland plots we specify mechanical fixings and dry-fix ridge, hip and verge details rather than mortar that will crack.
25 years on new pitched roofs, 15 years on flat roofs, plus the manufacturer-backed guarantee on the flat system itself.
Cover in place on every Hampshire job, with details supplied alongside your written quote.
If a repair will do, we quote the repair. Finding out costs nothing for existing homeowners.
Typically 30% deposit on a new pitched roof once scaffolding is up, with the balance staged through the job.
Local Conditions
Coastal wind, chalk downland exposure and decades of fast-built estate housing produce a fairly predictable set of Hampshire roof failures.
Basingstoke, Andover, Eastleigh and much of Hampshire's post-war and late-20th-century housing carries concrete interlocking tiles. These delaminate, lose their surface coating and become porous, while the bitumen felt underlay beneath goes brittle and tears at the eaves.
The roof can look fine from the road while the second line of defence has gone. Once felt has failed, any wind-driven rain past the tile lands on your ceiling — which is why renewal, not patching, is often the honest answer on these roofs.
Portsmouth, Gosport, Fareham, Southampton Water and Hayling take strong salt-laden onshore wind. Fixings corrode, verges and ridges lift, and slate nails fail faster than they would inland.
Coastal Hampshire roofs need mechanical fixings and periodic checks after named storms. Our 24/7 emergency line exists for the nights when that check comes too late.
Inland Hampshire is not sheltered. Open downland around Winchester, Petersfield and the Test and Itchen valleys gives high exposure ratings, and mortar-bedded ridges and verges on those plots crack and blow.
Dry-fix ridge, hip and verge details clip each unit mechanically. On an exposed Hampshire plot that difference decides whether you are calling a roofer every winter.
Portsmouth and Southampton have large areas of dense Victorian and Edwardian terraces with slate roofs, shared valleys, parapets and rear additions — plus significant post-war rebuilding stitched into the same streets.
Nail sickness, split valley lead and failed abutments to later extensions are the usual faults. Water often travels along a rafter before it appears, so the survey has to follow it back rather than repair under the stain.
Hampshire estate housing has been extended extensively, and most of those extensions bring a flat roof and a new abutment to the main wall.
Failures cluster at upstands, abutment flashings and shallow falls that let water pond. We look at the deck and the falls, not just the top surface, and specify felt, EPDM, single ply or GRP to suit the roof.
Spray foam insulation was sold widely across Hampshire lofts. Surveyors cannot inspect the timber beneath it and many lenders will not lend on it, which stops sales and re-mortgages outright.
We remove the foam and reinstate the roof so the structure can be seen again. No certificate is issued for the removal itself, but every removal we have carried out has been signed off by building control and surveyors without issue.
How It Works
Tell us what the roof is doing and where the property is. Most enquiries get a same-day response during opening hours, and the emergency line is answered day and night.
We inspect properly and photograph the problem. Surveys are free for existing homeowners; pre-purchase surveys are £150, deducted from your quote if you proceed.
Dates agreed up front, scaffolding arranged, and payments staged in writing — on a new pitched roof, typically a 30% deposit once the scaffolding is up.
We walk the finished work with you, clear the site, and hand over your guarantee — 25 years on new pitched roofs, 15 years on flat roofs plus the manufacturer-backed cover.
